At this moment I’d like to remind you of a frequent tactic of abusers when confronted with their actions:

DARVO = Deny, attack, reverse victim and offender.

Abusers are often extremely manipulative and self-loathing people who will do anything to blame others for their behaviour. They are the real victim!

If they can’t straight-up accuse their victims of lies, exaggeration, or vindictiveness— (2/3)
—thereby adding to the already high feelings of self-blame victims struggle with, they will blame LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE as to blame for their actions.

They’re especially fond of blaming things unable to fight back...

...such as fictional characters. (3/3)

* weird, angry YA fantasy but w too much mom / family in it to be real YA, done as 6 quarterly 60-page ‘zines

* uh, another weird YA fantasy about Nonviolent Superman?

* a quarterly 72-100p art zine w 1 comics & 1 prose story / issue
* A very dark action comedy / Roadtrip of Vengance story I keep describing as “Martin McDonagh’s DIE HARD”

* And finally some cool WFH books and other comics-adjacent stuff not yet announced
About half the creator-owned stuff doesn’t have a publisher yet but YOLO, we’ll figure it out somehow, we always do

2) Alt-right and alt-light organizing has two cornerstones-- nationalism and gender politics.

Their nationalism isn't always white nationalism. We see multi-ethnic groups like Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys organizing on the basis of Islamophobia and male chauvinism.
3) For the alt-light, Patriot Prayer organizer Haley Adams has been organizing the #HimToo movement, which attacks survivors of sexual assault, claiming to "protect" men from false allegations: npr.org/2018/10/11/656…

1. My MP has today disclosed that the reason he sent thousands of texts, had sex with his constituents, paid women to beat each other, cheated on his wife, dressed women as pigs and calls women sluts is because he was abused
2. He also disclosed that the reason he did it was because he has mental health issues. This thread will dissect why that simply is not true and why this media spin is damaging to victims of abuse everywhere, and why it is harmful to men and women with mental health issues.
3. First of all, latest statistics show that around 1 in 5 British adults were abused in childhood, but they DO NOT go on to exploit women, Dress them up as pigs, call women sluts, cheat on their partners or pay women to beat each other.

HEADS UP:

There appears to be a new army of troll accounts deployed to harass and try to silence women speaking out against Trump and Kavanaugh.

Please do NOT engage them in my mentions.

(My recommendation is you block them immediately, as they are not who they claim to be.)
I have the “quality filter” on, which works okay (but also filters out real people) so do not tend to see these accounts except for when others engage with them and “reply all” in their responses.

However, some more sophisticated ones seems to be getting through the filter now.
You can recognize these trolls because their tone is attacking/mocking right out of the gate, and they’ll call you crazy and use terms like TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome).

They also engage in sealioning if they successfully suck you into a “debate” (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning).
