Enjoying the many, many responses to this saying if these are the best examples of antisemtism you have then Labour has no problem. (A) rather proves the point I’ve been making for months about lack of education, (B) these are *evasions*, ie lies, not exhaustive examples...
It’s your movement so to be honest it’s up to you to sort this out but just google ‘Labour councillor antisemitism’ and take a look at how many actual Labour elected officials have been suspended or thrown out of the party for antisemetism. You just don’t get it.
Go on believing it’s a smear. You’re wrong.
I sort of forgot what it’s like to say anything about Labour and antisemtism here when the issue is attracting attention. I get such hostile and personal responses. Grim.
It’s so tribal. I know it’s a relatively small group of zealots but the Labour leadership have egged them on, creating a culture of impunity where hostility is seen as a fair response to ‘elites’/‘msm’/‘Zionists’ or whatever bizarre taxonomy of class enemies is in vogue this week
I know there are legitimate debates to be had over how much antisemitism is in Labour and how it should respond. But I don’t think i’m an aggressive voice in this and I try to be fair. Not saying I always succeed but...
... the amount of responses I get calling me mentally ill, sick, a paid operative, a liar, a hate-filled Tory, a racist, a pal of racists... frankly it’s grim. I can’t stand it. I know I’m none of those things but who are these people? Why do they (usually anonymously) do it?
I want a left wing government but am worried that the corrosive culture which seems to surround the Labour movement now will transpose to government and inevitably the country. The antismetism issue is a canary in the mine and people should pay attention at least for that reason
I have no doubt there are many thousands of excellent sensitive people in Labour. But the dominant people are not those people. It’s a worry.
I have spent a lot of my career looking at institutional culture - of the NHS, the Army, govt departments. Institutions go wrong in all sorts of ways but ultimately leadership and culture are usually central. I look at Labour and see a disaster waiting to happen
Structurally it’s a mess. The disciplinary and grievance set up is corrupt and basically non-functioning. There is a ridiculous amount of factionalism. The leadership is, well, make up your own mind. I honestly can’t see how such an institution could successfully run a country.
I know political parties are often messy but there is something different here I think. Something particularly messy.
