My favorite smartphone medical app is still ultrasound.
Handheld ultrasound was introduced > 9 yrs ago, but still there's very limited uptake. A reminder that It took 20 years before doctors accepted Laennec's stethoscope invention from 1816.

Besides eliminating most formal studies by incorporating ultrasound in the physical exam, you never know when it comes in handy....
like diagnosing my own kidney stones :-(
These are the 1st 5 devices w/ @US_FDA clearance. More since, and more to come. The price has to drop. But that isn't what is holding adoption back. It's (1) billing, since health systems make plenty w/ > 100 M ultrasounds in the US/yr &(2) training for it to be rapid and useful
