6yo has decided that you have to "be a member" to enter his room at any time. Otherwise, limited times.

What does it take to become a member? You have to play 10 games with him in less than 2 months.

Also, apparently there is a free trial. I'm gonna check it out.
2/ update: one of the games we get to play is blackjack. I'm so clearly winning at parenting.
3/ 6yo recommends I stay on 17. Smart.
4/ Soft 20. I'm killing it.
5/ 6yo busts. But that's ok he's really happy.
6/ 9yo has entered the scene with additional strategies. Clearly, it's time to take them to Vegas. I can't imagine anyone will complain about a couple of children helping me count cards.

I understand how appealing this sounds. But as someone who's studied both voting and e-cash protocols before blockchain was ever around, I'll say this: no one ever said the problem with online voting is "double spending" aka double voting. That is not an actual problem.
The problems with online voting, with or without blockchain, are 1/ securing the user endpoint, and 2/ providing voter-understandable evidence that their vote was correctly recorded.
Blockchain solves neither of these. Where voting is concerned, blockchain solves minor problems that are much more easily solved via much less onerous means. See benlog.com/2017/12/28/blo…

1/ This news about Firefox blocking third-party trackers by default has brought back some memories of my time at Mozilla and what we were considering back in 2012. Quick thread:
2/ as a friend of the privacy engineering team there, I spent a good bit of time thinking about this issue of third party trackers, and what browsers should do about it.
3/ ultimately, this whole idea of third-party trackers is bonkers, but somehow we've gotten used to it. A lot of what you do on the web is connected by way of these trackers. It is a side effect of the way cookies were designed, and one I'm pretty confident was never intended.

Voter enthusiasm/engagement is very high in the new Pew poll, with 61% of voters saying they're more enthusiastic than usual to vote in the midterms. This question is usually a pretty good predictor of overall national turnout. pewrsr.ch/2ONPD0q
Note, however, that GOP historically quite high by midterm standards -- it's just that Democratic enthusiasm is totally off the charts.
A pretty good #take is that with base turnout already expected to be quite high, the parties should spend the final 6 weeks of the campaign appealing to swing voters instead.

Time to find some bugs!
This is full of bees and slippers so it's a good place to get my camera settings and some nice photos!
Camera's all set up - macro lens, flash & softbox. My starting settings are f/14, 1/200 sec, ISO 200 and flash at half power. I'll adjust this depending on how my photos look, but this is my starting setting.
