Federal courts are open during the government shutdown (they've got other funds to use for at least three weeks), but seeing a string of motions now from DOJ and agencies that are affected asking to put civil litigation on hold (this happened during the last shutdown)
New: Remember how yesterday DOJ asked to put a bunch of cases on hold during the shutdown? In one of the cases challenging Trump's asylum ban, the judge has partly denied the request, saying he won't delay briefing deadlines, noting how many immigration functions are still active
Judges for the most part are granting DOJ's requests to put civil litigation on hold during the shutdown, but here's another denial: Judge Leon won't halt Jerome Corsi's lawsuit against Robert Mueller/FBI/CIA/NSA/DOJ. A hearing set for 1/3/19 is still on
