A great example of how art *can* express/evoke an emotion/idea (maternal love!) that is hard to express so concisely w/ prose.

But how much of art is successful/beautiful b/c it does *this*?

(Non-rhetorical question.)
What else influences whether a specific piece, artist, or movement survives?

(Beyond the obvious like talent, ability to reproduce reality, visual cheesecake, and evoking/expressing idea well.)

Any ideas? (Preferably w/ good exemplars+evidence.)
(And how often do the critics or art historians purport that the piece/artist/movement is great at x, when that is merely a plausible excuse for why they like/promote the piece/artist/movement?)
