2/ The individual mandate ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฑ been seen as essential to the ACAโs individual market. The thought ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฑ been, if people with #PreexistingConditons can get coverage, people would wait 'til they got sick to get insurance. This would drive up premiums and lead to a "death spiral"
3/ As anyone who has read the ACA knows, itโs a big piece of legislation. Thereโs a lot that has nothing to do with the individual mandate. Like calorie labeling, biosimilar approval, closing the Medicare donut hole. There was never a risk of a death spiral in Medicaid expansion.

That said, #Harris and #Biden should answer. Why does anyone think it would be wrong to increase the court seats when the #GOP leaves it unbalanced 6-3? The courts are supposed to be impartial, not partisan. If #Barrett gets appointed, #Dems absolutely should add until it's even.

Sure it was tough w/Trump hectoring, but Biden not only failed to explain his plans to build on #ACA but said his public option is "only for those people who are so poor they qualify for Medicaid they can get that free in most States." No it's not. It's available for everyone
including those who pay too much for employer provided care. His website: "Whether youโre covered through your employer, buying your insurance on your own, or going without coverage altogether, the Biden Plan will give you the choice to purchase a public health insurance option"

Every time McConnell's lips move, he lies. McConnell himself has voted SIXTY SEVEN TIMES to overturn the #ACA. His state is among those petitioning to end the #ACA as an unjust law. The law protects #PreExistingConditions. It comes before #SCOTUS mid-November. Barrett will vote.

Folks in my mentions are claiming the #ACA is insurance. No, the ACA is a LAW governing insurance. It protects #PreExistingConditions. It provides the healthcare marketplace, which offers private insurance options and tax subsidies or #Medicaid access for people who qualify.
Those of us who remember insurance BEFORE the #ACA was passed a decade ago also remember that being female was itself a #PreExistingCondition. Women were charged more for insurance and not one prophylactic for women, including PAP tests and mammograms, was covered. Nor maternity!
