Modi's Plan To Turn Rural Women Into Entrepreneurs Is Putting Them In Debt Instead huffingtonpost.in/entry/modis-st…
Muruganathan : Muhammad Yunus :: Sanitary Pads : Microfinance.

The (World) Banks (commercial) interest in selling loans by using social good as a cushion for marketing. Reality bites, It was micro finance suicides in AP, unsustainable debt here.
Stree Swabhiman had free marketing costs through #Padman But it could only take it that far. As elections are around and enough time for benefit of doubts are given, non starter scams will come out.
The goal of increasing accessibility to sanitary hygiene may be a good one, but forcing entrepreneurship for selling loans, having inaccessible fly-by-night trainers, unlabeled machines, victim-blaming - it isn't a social good anymore, its plain thievery helped by state / banks
The obsession to repeat success has what made Muruganantham, Yunus look like they are capitalism love babies. They may or may well be not.

But when people keep marketing ignoring criticisms, its a slippery slope.

Some of this, is often blamed on technologists and how they lack empathy. While not denying improvement in that front, teach that empathy to philanthrocapitalists (How did Kaku respond to #Aadhaar hunger death again?), economists in @WorldBank & policy pundits in think-do-tanks.
