Regarding the NYE teargassing incident at the border, I just got this from a trusted photojournalist friend:

in those pieces..... people were hiding next to the wall in silence and then gassed. i wasnt close to enough to witness the rocks being thrown so i cant confirm or deny that. but ZERO provocation before the gas for sure."
Again, this is someone I have worked with at the border and who I know and trust. I'm keeping his name out of it of my own accord to spare him potential harassment
Also, it's inconclusive if any rocks were thrown at all. The official story is internally inconsistent (some were passing babies over while others threw rocks? was there more than one group? why is tear gas considered an appropriate response to rocks flung over a very tall wall?)
