A newly published memo shows that, along with their efforts in Montenegro, Paul Manafort and Oleg Deripaska also worked to sway elections in Cyprus.

According to @kenvogel, the first to post the document, KC refers to Kypros Chrysostomides, a Cypriot politician who also helped facilitate Manafort's under-the-table payments from pro-Kremlin Ukrainians:
Cyprus has historically been a favorite tax haven for Russian money launderers—often through a bank that once counted Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross as a board member, and the Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev one of its biggest shareholders.

According to the transcript of Paul Manafort's latest hearing, Trump's former campaign chairman kept working with Konstantin Kilimnik in Ukraine after being indicted, including discussing an unspecified "backdoor" related to their work. nbcnews.com/politics/justi…
The transcript also describes Manafort's August 2, 2016, meeting with Kilimnik as going "very much to the heart of what the Special Counsel's Office is investigating"—that is, collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Why did Manafort lie? Mueller's team appears to state the obvious: "to at least augment his chances for a pardon."

The Treasury Department just lifted sanctions on three companies owned by Oleg Deripaska, the Russian oligarch with an extensive history of financing Kremlin-backed political parties throughout Europe and Asia.

SPCs #Manafort filing is heavily redacted as expected. What he said, about whom etc. Will post doc in full shortly.
To note, the filing starts with a declaration by FBI Special Agent Jeffrey Weiland who participated in a dozen proffer sessions with Manafort.
The information around what was discussed is redacted, clearly. But at the core here, SPC contends Gates told investigators Manafort told him in Jan '17 to go ahead and use "intermediaries" in order to help folks land a spot in the Trump admin.

#Manafort charging document for today's guilty plea includes details of his planting disinformation in US press to smear political rivals of his pro-Russia clients in Ukraine. Eg "Plant some stink on Tymo"—painting a female rival as a criminal who paid for murder. Sound familiar?
Manafort had used the same propaganda smear tactics in Ukraine that Trump rolled out in his campaign for president in 2016. Manafort not only had Tymo soliciting murder. He pushed tribal divisions, using "Obama Jews" & anti-Semitism to tarnish her. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4883…
