Juana's case is heartbreaking: She came here when she was 16 speaking Jacaltec, an indigenous language.
But she was was forced to sign forms she didn't understand that guaranteed her deportation, 10 yrs later, back to the town where she was assaulted.

We separated her from her kids, sent her back to a place where she'd endured sexual assault, & separated her once again for trying to rejoin her daughters.
All b/c she didn't get a fair hearing when she entered. She could have stayed, but her forms were in the wrong language.
