To be fair to him, the Turkish opposition is woeful and someone had to step up to do it. But it can’t be denied that under his leadership, the whole of Turkey has been bathed in concrete. Election time in Turkey can throw up weird stuff but this is up there in the top 10.

In America, I believe they call this “gaslighting”. I almost feel guilty for having cut down most of Istanbul’s northern forests to build a bridge and an airport. Or perhaps for plastering most of the Black Sea coast with motorways. I mean someone must have done it, right?
