Serving on Four Committees in 116th Congress

WASHINGTON – United States Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) has been elected to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Established in 1816 as one of the original standing committees in the United States Senate, the Senate Judiciary Committee is considered one of the most influential committees in the Congress.
The committee has broad legislative jurisdiction and has assured its primary role as a forum for the public discussion of social and constitutional issues. The committee is also responsible for oversight of key activities of the executive branch,
and is responsible for the confirmation process of all judicial nominations for the federal judiciary, including nominees to the Supreme Court.
In addition to serving as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Graham will also serve on the Appropriations, Foreign Relations, and Budget committees.
“I’m honored to be selected as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee,” said Graham. “I will do my best to continue down the path charted by Senator Grassley of having a fair and vibrant committee process.
The confirmation of conservative judges will be one of my top priorities as Chairman.
“In addition, I will also continue to seek common ground on the major issue facings our nation. I look forward to working with Senator Feinstein and all my colleagues to make this new Congress successful.”
