There is a certain type of contrarian we can no longer accept in this struggle.
It is the contrarian who opposes popular currents amongst the Left BECAUSE they are popular, and NOT because of any rational position.
This toxic egotism hurts efforts to build class consciousness.

We see this most frequently amongst Leftists who adhere to a false dichotomy of “reform vs. revolution” where any type of reform supported by folks like Bernie or AOC is dismissed as an attempt to reform Capitalism, as opposed to something that could strengthen the working class.
BSA is moving under a “prepare for the worst” philosophy.
We are not banking on policy changes that will boost our cause.
That said, there are clearly representatives in government who wish to aid our anticapitalist efforts, despite their rhetoric not reflecting this to some.

Many don’t want to deal with the minutiae of what it takes to actually challenge the capitalist system.
This must change.
There are those who will obsess over “purity” from the surface level, and there are those who will peel away the layers before grabbing the reins of change.
