Gen Z loves big government!
And Gen Z loves diversity just about as much as Millennials do:
Gen Z also has more non-traditional views on gender than Millennials do:
So far, stories about the rightward tilt of Gen Z (here's an example from 2017) are NOT aging well.

But of course, Gen Z is still young, and their views may change with age.

Also, if the Right expunges Trump and his movement, and the Left gets in power and does a bunch of bad stuff, it could shift them as well.

So things aren't set in stone!

Yep. MMT is gaining credence because MMT proponents managed to capture the ears of first Bernie Sanders, then of Ocasio-Cortez and other DSA politicians. They have now managed to get MMT written into the DSA canon...
The DSA policy canon is interesting because it differs in idiosyncratic ways from the standard progressive canon. Instead of basic income or an expanded safety net, they endorse job guarantee. Instead of general financial reform they focus on Glass-Steagall. Etc...
These idiosyncracies, especially stuff like Glass-Steagall, lead me to believe that very little ever gets removed from the DSA canon. So no matter how well mainstream economists ever manage to argue against MMT, if DSA people ever get elected, MMT *will* be implemented.

I watched the Gillette commercial. Although its depiction of changing norms of masculinity as being a novel, discrete phenomenon was unrealistic (it's obviously a gradual process long in the making), the message seemed like an extremely positive one.
Don't bully, don't fight, don't be a creep, take care of your kids. Who thinks that's a bad message? Are there seriously people out there getting mad about a commercial that tells men to be good guys?
I mean, I don't know what that has to do with shaving. But then again, I almost never know what razor commercials have to do with shaving. FWIW I do use Gillette razors and they work really well.

I've been seeing people sharing this graph around. It is total and utter bullshit. "Lifestyle emissions" is a made-up thing that has no relation to total carbon emissions. Total carbon emissions are what matter for the climate.
Here you can look at estimates of total consumption-based carbon emissions - a MUCH better measure. The richest billion people (about 13% of world population) are responsible for about 1/3 of global emissions.

The distribution of emissions is lopsided, but not nearly as lopsided as that Oxfam "lifestyle consumption" graph makes it look.

This sentiment always brings me back to a John Boehner interview on @MeetThePress in 2011 where he's asked about Trump's birtherism stuff.

David Gregory asks: "Do you not think it’s your responsibility to stand up to that kind of ignorance?"

Boehner says this:
GREGORY: But that kind of ignorance over whether he’s a Muslim doesn’t concern you?

BOEHNER: "Listen, the American people have the right to think what they want to think. I can’t — it’s not my job to tell them."

After 70 years of imperial/neoliberal indoctrination the web of lies is so obviously absurde (9/11, Skripal, WH = ISIS, etc.), that it is dissoluting. The empathetic humanity connects, closes ranks and sends their eternal psychopathic rulers and their lackeys into nowhere land.
The "evil empire" is a lifelong three year old child. I certainly loved my children at that age too, however only because they created not only a surreal mess, but also made steady progress.

A great documentary about psychopathy and society:
The elite invented "democracy" to protect them from the empathetic people. The media are their means for misleading the people sedated by "democracy". This is definitely a bad thing since the people have become educated and the elite almost totally insane.

My FBR party yesterday was a great idea, and I loved seeing everyone's posts about how they contribute to the resistance. However, it got me thinking about two polarizing opinions on HOW we resist, and I'd like to address those. 1/
One point of view seems to be that resisting by retweeting, hosting and joining FBR parties, and sometimes trolling Trump himself or arguing with trolls and conservatives online, are all excellent ways of resisting. 2/
On the opposite end, others are very critical of anyone who isn't constantly active offline. You'll hear both "We should be in the streets every day!" and "Marching solves nothing, you have to vote!" 3/

I was watching people tweet positively about rereading Invincible now that it's ended, and I gave up on that series probably around the midway point, so I decided to reinvestigate it too and that series is actually way more flawed than I even remembered.
First, just keep this letter response from Kirkman in mind for everything else that comes up. Funny how this talking point hasn't changed at all in 15 years.
I remembered Kirkman's pseudo-catchphrase of "This is so gay" being pretty gross even when I was reading the comic as it came out in 2003, while I was in high school. I went to school in both Houston and Seattle and this wasn't a common teen thing in either.
