Two months ago

2 Hispanic women were approached and harassed by a racist white lady for speaking Spanish in store.

Another white woman who saw and heard this happening immediately stepped in to defend them.

The Holocaust was legal. Slavery was legal. Segregation was legal.

People who hid Jews in their homes were criminalized. People who freed slaves were criminalized. People who stood up for equality and justice were criminalized.

Legality is not a guide for morality!

Quite often, I find myself thinking about the social norms that have been established on twitter over the years (perversely, most commonly in "anti-abuse" circles) which seem to serve no purpose but to cause horrific harm to innocent people while insisting it's for their own good
I'm bringing this up tonight not because any recent incident I've experienced or witnessed brings it to mind, but because I can't actually recall seeing any of these toxic behaviors playing out recently enough to merit a discussion of them, which hopefully means I can get into it

I have found a horror film starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Lori Petty and seemingly every character actor who’s done horror movies before. It’s the opening scene and they’re talking to both Dick Smith and Steven Williams
This comes right out and gets to being terrible immediately, but it’s from 2001 and I miss when low-budgeters like this were on 35mm instead of video. From the year, the look and Lou Diamond Phillips I’m going to guess this is...Clairmont-Scope
Anyway so Lou and Lori are federal agents and so is Dale Midkiff, who shows off his versatility by driving a car while wearing sunglasses *and* talking. Williams is a witness they just snatched to take to a trial, which I guess means he has the Sondra Locke role
