What's noteworthy here is not that a tech CEO got interviewed and said a whole bunch of nothing. That's like 90% of tech-CEO interviews. What sets this apart is @ashleyfeinberg's staunch refusal to *pretend* that Dorsey said anything meaningful.
Bad as this makes Dorsey look, it's hard to imagine the CEOs of other big tech firms giving answers to these questions that are any better. These are tough questions! I'm torn between marveling at the PR blunder and admiring Dorsey's willingness to sit for a hostile interview.

I sometimes see it implied that Congress’s poor understanding of Internet platforms’ data collection practices means it shouldn’t regulate them. I think that gets it backwards.
I argue here that Congress’s confusion about Google and privacy is really an argument *for* regulation. slate.com/technology/201…
Specifically, we need federal privacy regulation that compels tech companies to make their policies *less* confusing. You shouldn’t have to be an expert to know whether Google is tracking you around the room on your iPhone, as the befuddled Rep. Poe demanded to know.

In 2007, as a cub reporter for the San Mateo Daily News, I covered a proposed development in the wealthy SF Peninsula suburb of Belmont that would have been its first mixed-use housing-over-retail project. City planners saw it as a model for the future. eastbaytimes.com/2007/03/22/fir…
Eleven years later, Belmont is *still debating* the Firehouse Square project.

On call with reporters just now, Mark Zuckerberg reiterates company line that seems to dispute the NYT story without actually contradicting anything in it.
Zuckerberg says Facebook has decided it "shouldn't be making so many important decisions about free expression and safety on our own." So it's creating a new, independent appeals body.

Here's this woman's "criminal" conduct. Remember, she has 6th grade education. She registered to vote, checking "no" on citizen. She was bounced and called to ask why. The clerk said you have to check "yes." So she checked "yes" and sent it back in. The same clerk registered her.

I spoke this morning at Stony Brook University at a telehealth conference. My first slide: “I’m really disappointed in telehealth.” Here’s why: 16 years in, the industry leader did 1.1M video visits in the last 4 quarters. There are 1.1B doctor visits per year in America.
A recent study also showed that out of 20M people, 0.51% of people filed a telehealth claim.

The MEK is the Iranian flavor of Ahmed Chalabi's Iraqi National Congress. An astroturf grassroots organization.

But they're popular in the Neo-Con community.
