On this day in 1983 the 5th Brigade was deployed .The result was the gukurahundi genocide #Asakhe
1st batallion was deployed in Mat North areas covering Nkayi, Tsholotsho, Lupane, Bembesi and Bubi. 2nd battalion was deployed in Silobela.3rd battalion Gokwe.
There was a dusk to dawn curfew imposed in most parts of Matebeleland
A day before gukurahundi was deployed Mugabe left the country on an official business
There were reports of mass beatings, mass killings .26 were burnt in a but in Mkhonyeni , Tsjolotsho on Jan 23. People were forced to dig their own graves after which they were shot and buried others still alive
There was no cellphone, no social media, no cable tv .Infomation was passed to the outside world by those who managed to escaped to the city
Relatives were made to dance on the graves of the dead praising ZANU

At Neshango shops in Tsholotsho two pregnant girls were accused of being wifes of dissidents and they were shot. Soldiers tore open the womb of one of the girls and they laughed when they saw the foetus moving saying the dissidents wants to run away.
Pregnant women were gang raped
Usually soldiers arrived in an area with a list of ZAPU officials .The first to be identified was killed.
Zanupf has always used violence from 1980 till now and they have never taken responsibility. It's 36yrs after the gukurahundi genocide and still theydomt want to take responsibility
