He didn’t “give” his life, he was murdered by a White supremacist. Y’all still haven’t learned a damn thing from his life or death and need to stop speaking his name in vain because it’s a fucking insult and disgrace to MLK’s legacy and Black people in general.
I’m so sick & tired of the White folk who pretend MLK died on the cross for their sins and like all the racist shit they do/enable the other 364 days of the year can somehow be absolved as long as they disingenuously misinterpret his legacy on #MLKDay.

Trump’s racist rhetoric (read stochastic terrorism) has incited hate crimes and threats of violence against Black Americans across the board, including the Obamas and other Black elected officials who were mailed pipe bombs. #MLKDay is the perfect day for him to STFU.

MLK didn’t willfully surrender his life to his killer, he was involuntarily snuffed out by the same ideology and institution of White supremacist hatred that put Trump in the WH. Today’s @GOP can stake NO legitimate claim to *any* part of MLK’s legacy and they prove it daily.
Every monstrously racist and/or austere policy prescriptive the Republican Party offers up as an excuse for legislation stands in the starkest possible contradiction to EVERYTHING MLK stood for. It’s blasphemy every time they invoke his name and I rebuke it 24/7, 365.
Matter of fact the entire conservative movement in America has been predicated on opposition to the structural changes that were made by the Civil Rights Act due in large part to MLK’s activism. Y’all don’t get to celebrate victories you’re actively trying to defeat. Stop it. 🛑

MLK didn’t give you shit if you voted for Trump & people like you are precisely why he isn’t alive today. Your request to exploit his legacy for the futile sake of making it look like you aren’t a shameless racist intent on dismantling it has been summarily denied and dismissed.

No wrongs were magically righted by MLK’s death any more than they were after Eric Garner’s or Trayvon Martin’s deaths. The fact that White people even have the gall to romanticize America’s historic lack of response to White supremacist violence is disgusting and pathognomonic.
Seriously, imagine being that childish, privileged, delusional and/or oblivious that you’re still walking around here actually thinking that MLK was gunned down then instantaneously White people stopped being racist in words, deeds and public policy.
This fantasy requires complete ignorance/avoidance of the basic fact that the Republican Party has called 50+% of the White vote its own for 50 YRS on the strength of racist opposition to the Civil and Voting Rights Acts that were championed by MLK. It requires lies and denial.
This fantasy also requires complete and total amnesia for the fact that every Black civic leader and elected official who brings the same social justice issues to the floor that MLK did is met with derision and aggression from the White American majority to this very fucking day.
MLK’s work wasn’t done when his life was taken, that’s why they took it. Those of us who’ve truly taken up his cause know that his murder was a symptom, not a cure. We also know the struggle continues and precisely who it’s against, no matter how hard they try to blur the lines.
MLK woulda been fine w/still being alive, he didn’t have to die for y’all to listen to what the fuck he was saying, especially not when all you’re doing now is agitating for the same apartheid he denounced til his dying breath. Pay him respect by not being a hypocrite, just STFU.
They want us to believe they understand, appreciate and admire MLK after we heard them call Neo-Nazis very fine people and watched them go apeshit and burn their Nikes over Black athletes taking a knee in peaceful protest. No fucking way. Not on #MLKDay or any other day.
