Two interesting ECHR rulings today
Catt v UK - police data held on 94 year old activist in extremism database was justified in principle, but unjustified in the circumstances. Breach of the right to privacy.
And the Amanda Knox case. Breach of the ECHR freedom from degrading treatment, and breach of the right to a fair trial.
In the Amanda Knox case there was a *procedural* breach relating to degrading treatment - ie no adequate investigation of her complaint. No funding that she actually suffered such treatment.
Finally, more details of the breach of the right to a fair trial in the Amanda Knox case. Limited access to a lawyer, and inadequate investigation into her complaint about the interpreter. //
