It has not been a great week for Aharon Almog-Assouline, the man identified by The New York Times and Israeli investigative show Uvda as the undercover agent who met @jsrailton for lunch at the Peninsula Hotel last week.
Follow this link for a video that begins just as I crash the lunch mid-crème brûlée, independent.co.uk/news/world/mid…
Almog-Assouline, who on Thursday went by the alias "Michel," doesn't appear pleased. "I don't have to speak with you," he says. About 20 seconds into the video I take out my phone. Here's a still from a second video shot simultaneously by @jsrailton: mako.co.il/tv-ilana_dayan…
So what am I showing him on the phone? As @jsrailton and “Michel” were sitting down to lobster, salmon, and steak, my colleague @lhinnant went to Michel’s supposed office at 77 Avenue Parmentier in Paris. She sent the following photo:
“Michel” becomes agitated, starts wandering around the restaurant trying to pay the check. At one point (1:15 he says: “My company exists! Leave me alone.”

But the company doesn’t exist. Hours later, CPW-Consulting would be wiped from the web.
When asked who he was, or why his company was bogus, he said: “I don’t have to give you any explanation of this.” (1:25)

Looks like Israel journalists are providing the explanations for him: mako.co.il/tv-ilana_dayan…
Anyways I’ve left Almog-Assouline a few messages on WhatsApp. No response thus far. And no confirmation - yet - on who he was working for.
