Raab is on saying that of course the backstop can be junked since a border will be avoided in the absence of a deal. Entirely predictable. Time for honesty on the issue.
Time also to spell out why no deal is better than a bad deal, and what the strategy will be if there is no deal. Which I assume will be to continue insisting on a backstop arrangement as a price for any deal.
The clearer and more honest the EU is, the smaller the risk of UK miscalculation leading to an accidental no deal Brexit
The more honest everyone is about what no deal implies for the border, the less likely we are to see one return
