I appreciate your response, but this was all wrong.

1. Mugshots have the opposite effect of what you say your intent was. There was a reason Willie Horton's mugshot was used in the now infamous George Bush campaign ad & it wasn't to convey that he was a "real human being."
2. There's a difference between a mugshot being available on a sheriff's website & in an article in @nytimes.

Maybe law enforcement would still have had access to them, but they have now been broadcast to a national audience of people who never would have seen them.
3. I feel like this answer is disingenuous to an extent.

You don't ordinarily use mugshots the way tabloids do. And some tabloids won't use them now, in police blotter type stories.

It feels like you came up with a very cool graphics idea & now it's a post-facto justification.
