There is a lot of things to be excited about in the #tabletop #rpg games hobby. As much as we need to be critical of text, and folks making games, there's a lot to be thankful for as well. Particular if you're privileged enough to have a gaming group where you can try new stuff.
Being a part of the @GauntletRPG has allowed me to play 50 systems this year. 50!!!! Roll20 forums and in-person groups in Calgary, Alberta had me fucking starving for other systems because all anyone played with Saga Star Wars, Pathfinder, and D&D--and those games aren't for me.
In any given week I play 3 different systems and bi-monthly I playtest my own games, usually. When I'm not writing, anyway. There are so many games, especially indie games, I'm excited for and so much on the Gauntlet schedule that I'm looking forward to.

Initiative means every party in a combat acts exactly as often as every other party. In reality, this isn't how fights work, from a schoolyard brawl that gets you sent to the principal to trench warfare. It's *fair* from a game perspective, but not realistic or cinematic.

Fair makes sense in a tactical board game. But does it make sense for a tabletop RPG?
Many tabletop RPGs also come with a tactical board game that the designers throw in for free.

Because a few ppl have asked about my house rule, “I Know a Guy:” it’s meant to create that moment in ESB when Han decides he can go to Lando for help, but isn’t 100% sure how Lando will actually receive him: 1/ #dnd
In any situation (where it makes sense), a PC can declare “I know a guy,” and then quickly sketch that NPC & the relationship. Fewer details are usually better - that leaves room for the DM & PCs to play. 2/ #dnd
Upon declaration, the NPC exists. Then, when the PCs try to interact w the NPC, the player who created that NPC makes a Charisma roll to see how the NPC reacts. Depending upon the situation, the DM may decide advantage/disadvantage applies. 3/ #dnd
