Today’s #ThePrincipalGuide

1. Try to set up Two-Factor Authentication for your email, social media accounts & any other platform that’s really important to you. Two-factor authentication is simply adding another step to verify your identity in addition to your password.
In most cases, after providing your password, a code is sent to your phone that you must provide on the website before you can be logged-in successfully.

You can turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) on Facebook, Twitter, IG, email and many websites these days. Go to ....
..Settings > Security and Login on Facebook.

...Settings and privacy > Account > Login Verification on Twitter.

Now, what if your phone gets missing and you can’t get the code for authentication. Ah! #ThePrincipalGuide
Don’t worry, there’s something called “Recovery Codes”. Every website with 2FA has it. Just ensure that you print out/copy those codes and store it in a secure place while turning on your two-factor authentication.

If you fail to do this, then...#ThePrincipalGuide
2. Most of you try to share your login details (of educational platforms, Netflix, etc) with people for different reasons. You are likely to either whisper, shout it in public, or send through chat. Please dear, don’t do that.😁 #ThePrincipalGuide
Just use a website like lastpass.com, ask for the person’s email and share the details via lastpass.com. It’s also available as a chrome extension.

This way, the person you’re sharing it with won’t know the password at all. #ThePrincipalGuide
And for websites that ask for the old password before you can change to a new password, you’re rest assured that the folks you have shared your password details won’t automatically take over your Netflix (insert website name) account at all. #ThePrincipalGuide
3. This is very important. If your phone gets stolen or lost, and you know you might not get it back, please log out from your mail, or social media accounts from your laptop or new device.

How? 🤔

Stay with me..It’s simple. #ThePrincipalGuide
For example, Facebook. Go to Settings > Security and Login, you’ll see a section called “Where You’re Logged In” like the image in this tweet.

It’s shows where you’re currently logged in. #ThePrincipalGuide
..by the right hand side, you’ll see an elipsis-kinda button that you can click to log you out remotely. 😁 #ThePrincipalGuide
On Twitter, Go to Settings > Apps and devices. You’ll see all the devices your twitter account is currently logged on.

You can log out ASAP!

Works for email as well.

Especially when you feel weird that someone has access to your account apart from you 😅 #ThePrincipalGuide
We will continue another day. As for now, please stay safe in 2019. #ThePrincipalGuide
