I have a few words to say just to counsel a few people missing the point on @adeyanjudeji’s continued incarceration. It will be a teachable moment for the youth out there especially those on the cross-road. Nobody should use Deji as an excuse or basis for their personal decision.
Deji’s case is a legal issue now as worsened by political interests beyond the intervention of the police themselves. The intervention however is ongoing and no one should assume that Deji has been abandoned in anyway. It is unfortunate how this is being tooled by some elements.
We must question the rationale of most people when they raise their voice on Socialmedia for this reason. Why do you do what you do? For your political party recognition or for your country? Will you leave your church because your Pastor didn’t Christian your Pet Fowl? 🤔
Do you join an assembly (religious or political party) because of the politics within such assembly or because of the main goal for which the assembly was set up? Our morbid sense of entitlement ruins things most of the time & it is a bad trait to copy from older generation.
Deji knew the risk involved in speaking the truth to power. We mostly do and are prepared for whatever. Regardless of the ‘why’ behind our action. Deji is not expecting KING’S and royal fathers to come visit him in prison neither is he holding a grudge against anyone.
Anyone in touch with the high spirited comrade will know this. Making this an issue against any political party is a total misplacement of priority/emotions. The NWC of any political party are not the YMCA or AIESEC and there is no point mixing up their roles.
Clearly put, Deji wasn’t fighting for PDP or any political party. In fact he has like many others dramatically announced his exit from the party. He was holding the authorities to account as we all should. This wasn’t a favor to any candidate & no visit will solve any problem.
When #EndSARS started many who didn’t understand the advocacy and vision would have expected political parties to jump on it but because of how it was structured, it was clear it goes deeper than partisan politics but a major issue we all must engage for our future sake.
Was I prepared to be shot at? Yes. Was I ready to be jailed? Of course yes! Do I expect any political figure to come to my aid? Of course not. Even my Ex Pastor pretended not to know about it despite his large congregation oppressed by the imbroglio. I didn’t feel entitled.
So if there be anyone out there holding a grouse with any political party, be straight about it. It can’t be about Deji because Deji’s matter has nothing to do with APC/PDP but certain elements seeking their pound of flesh for their bruised ego. We shouldn’t capitalize on this.
There are prominent APC supporters who are not happy with Deji’s continued incarceration and re-arrests. Festus Keyamo is a spokesperson for the Buhari Campaign, yet he did his best until it was beyond what he can meddle in based on the nature of his commitment.
I want to believe that a lot of youth out there have sacrificed for their party. I know people in CPC who labored hard for GMB and we’re abandoned till date. None of them came out to drag him in the mud. Likewise there are PDP youths who’s never benefited yet stayed loyal.
If you must leave any assembly, do it with integrity without the drama & subterfuge in the name of another who may not even be on your page. If my Pastor offends me, I’ll simply leave the church without carrying the offering basket along while slapping the ushers on my way out.
Let us remember that we can never be elevated by slandering others. Nigeria belongs to all of us not not just office holders, candidates of political parties or members of the ruling party. Play your role and manage your expectations. No one is indispensable.
Anyone who stands firm in holding the aberration accountable will forever be deemed to have sympathy for the opposition. Even the US & EU were accused of this by microcephalics defending the worst of aberrations. So pay no mind to slaves stroking their chains.
Deji Adeyanju will be free and this impunity will never repeat itself. Special thanks to all the committed folks making sure the right things are done without making noise. Nothing can silence us. We will never give in to intimidation. #FreeDejiAdeyanju
