and gained fame as faqīh & qurʾan reciter. He is also particularly famous for his knowledge of traditions attributed to ʿAbdallāh ibn ʿAbbās, the cousin of the prophet Muḥammad. Ibn Jurayj once sought aid from the Abbasid court bringing a collection of traditions of Ibn ʿAbbās.
This MS Seems to be different from the notorious corpus of tafsīr traditions attributed to Ibn Jurayj < ʿAṭāʾ < Ibn ʿAbbās by Mūsā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ṣanʿānī discussed here:
