Here's the DOJ press release on the Paul Erickson money laundering and wire fraud indictment. He was indicted yesterday, pleaded not guilty today, and has been released on bond.

Although prosecutors repeatedly referenced someone who appeared to be Erickson as Maria Butina's alleged co-conspirator, these charges appear on the surface to be wholly unrelated to the Butina case:

That said... there are references to someone with the initials "M.B." and a payment to American University... so who knows...

For the Epstein case itself, this is a breakthrough because for the first time, a court is confirming Epstein's serial abuse of multiple minor girls (a federal crime) in Florida, elsewhere in the US, and abroad.

Last week, we saw the sentencing submission from the Special Counsel's Office in the Paul Manafort case in Virginia (19-24 years, millions in fines and restitution).

Manafort's defense has not yet filed their own sentencing memo in the Virginia case.
In DC however, the judge had set this Friday (2/22) as the deadline for sentencing submissions from both the prosecutors and Manafort's defense.

Today, Manafort's defense asked for -- and got -- an extension so they won't have to file until Monday 2/25.
But the Special Counsel's Office confirms to us that the extension of that DC deadline is just for the defense.

Prosecutors still expect to submit their sentencing document about Manafort, in DC, by this Friday.

Paul Erickson, Maria Butina's erstwhile boyfriend, has been arrested and indicted for fraud and money laundering. The charges against Erickson are about swindling investors in the Dakotas, and there isn't an evident link to Butina's foreign agent case. documentcloud.org/documents/5729…
Erickson's docket sheet indicates he's already been arraigned and pleaded not guilty. (See also the "notice" they included about how you can't tell whether he cooperated or not.)
a few observations:
- The SD US Attorney marks the approx timeline of Erickson's fraud from 1996 to August 2018. Butina was arrested in July 2018
- A couple disbursements list a recipient "M.B." who could plausibly be Butina but it's small $
- This may be the bleakest fraud ever
