Before end this day, I want to share an encounter I had this week that reminded me how deeply ingrained sexism is to the basic operations of Washington’s policy discourse. 1/
I wrote last year about the appalling dominance of all male or nearly all male events and conferences. This spans political orientation and policy preference. It means some are systematically shunned from these discussions because of their gender. 2/ cnas.org/publications/r…

I cannot repeat this enough. I have found ZERO evidence to support Bolton’s claim that Iran is “still strategically committed to achieving deliverable nuclear weapons.” In fact, all the evidence points the other way. See for yourself: 1/ defenseone.com/ideas/2019/01/…
For starters, Dan Coats, the Director of National Intelligence, testified before the Senate last year that Iran “wants to preserve the JCPOA,” and that the deal has “enhanced the transparency of Iran’s nuclear activities.” 2/ dni.gov/files/document…
Coats isn’t alone. U.S. intelligence agencies agree, as do a series of regular reports from the IAEA, all of which confirm that Iran remains in strict compliance with the deal that shrank and largely froze its nuclear complex. 3/ iaea.org/newscenter/foc…

I'm not going to defend @IlhanMN. Her tweet was ill-considered. But it is vitally important we distinguish between criticism of Israel and anti-Semitism. And we also must recognize the massive response against Rep. Omar for what it is--a spasm of fear about our changing times.
The entire infrastructure that has been built over the years to advance the interests of Israel in the U.S. is quaking in its boots--not because of the badly developed arguments of a rookie Congresswoman--but because of the coming generational change in U.S. views of Israel.
Rep. Omar destroyed her own credibility by embracing an old anti-Semitic trope. There is no place for that in American politics. But even as she should be condemned, her views of Israel need to be heard. There is no reason American views on a foreign gov't should be in lockstep.

So let’s talk about this tweet and whether accusations against Tlaib are just right-wing propaganda or legitimate.
During the campaign, Tlaib claimed to support a 2-state solution, only to then turn around and admit to only supporting 1 state after she won the primary. That led to even far-left JStreet withdrawing their support. haaretz.com/us-news/.premi…
After she was elected, Tlaib covered up Israel on a map in her office with a post-it note that said Palestine.

Problem with one-state is that Jews wouldn’t have a place in such a state. Even now, Palestinians are being sentenced to jail and death just for selling land to Jews.
