Behold the Dutch government's Brexit muppet, which is being used to inform businesses of brexit risks by disrupting biz and trade.
That's the Dutch foreign minister with the blue monster, which could be called Brexy my sources suggest.
The Dutch have basically said that 17.4 million Brits voted for the mongrel bipedal offspring of a big brush and a car wash roller.

And if this is what they picked, I'd love to see the rejected designs!

Luxembourg's Bettel goes on the attack against Brexiteers.
Brexit has exposed the weaknesses in the Brexiteers' arguments...their only response is no no no.
Leaving the EU is not a formality as they promised during the ref campaign. It is anything but easy to leave the EU

1. I'm not really interested in the respective technical arguments for a customs union because it is predominantly a moral issue. #Brexit thread
2. It can be argued that we need it for the preferential rules of origin regime to protect jobs in the car industry etc. But by prioritising global multinationals we are dispensing with one of the fundamentals of Brexit ie "Take back control".
3. Y'see, Tories have trade all wrong. Brexit isn't about dashing off into the blue yonder to sign a stack of FTAs we wouldn't get otherwise. At best we are going to have to run fast just to stand still. We can do some optimisation but nothing that really offsets Brexit damage.

This "Alternative Arrangements Working Group" looks suspiciously like a selected bunch of backbench Conservative MPs being provided with support by civil servants. Which of course is not allowed.

I'm sure no.10 will clarify to remove suspicion. #Brexit

Civil service code says civil servants must not “act in a way that is determined by party political considerations, or use official resources for party political purposes”. A group consisting only of Tory backbenchers getting served by civil servants surely violates this rule.
The Cabinet Manual, 7.2: “Ministers are required to uphold the political impartiality of the Civil Service and not ask civil servants to act in any way that would conflict with the Civil Service Code”. Again, the Alternative Arrangements Group, with ONLY Tories, breaks this rule.

I am starting to wonder if the Tories are actually planning to use the chaos of a no deal #Brexit to declare a state of emergency suspend parliament and institute a dictatorship
This sounds paranoid but there actions are consistent with if not necessarily indicative of a plan to use #Brexit to do away with democracy itself
Vote Leave broke electoral law if the referendum was binding it would have been declared void because the referendum was advisory the electoral commission could not do this and the government is simply ignoring it showing no regard for democratic norms #Brexit

#brexit seems to be all about feeling over fact and this is especially true of the ReesMogg ERG faction of the Tory right.
I never bought the line that #brexit is about Democracy because most of the Tory right had zero enthusiasm for improving democracy in the UK few of them care about unelected house of lords the unfair FPTP electoral system or transparency on the contrary
Most of the Tory right are interested only in constitutional changes that suit them and if anything strive to be as little democratically accountable as possible.
