Here we go... Dyson axes 100 UK jobs. The cuts come a mere few weeks after announcing they were moving their HQ to Singapore. Not a Brexit poster child any more, eh!
Digging into it a bit more closely, it looks like the cuts were actually sneaked out mere days before the HQ move, so that the company could "truthfully" say "no jobs *will* be affected". Yeah, only because they already cleaned house just before going public with the news.

BTW, here's a good explanation of how moving to Singapore could benefit the company in tax terms (again, it's a bit of a fudge, in the sense that there aren't many tax benefits on current products - but potentially huge tax benefits on *future* products).

Looking at it another way, you could see his hairdryers as a perfect metaphor for Brexit: they'll dry your hair just like a normal hairdryer will, but at a much higher price. Just like Brexit will allow us to keep trading as we do now, but at a much higher cost.

Brexiters economists such as Patrick Minford keep repeating the nonsense that tariffs will benefit us after Brexit because other countries will have to pay more in tariffs than we will (because of our trade deficit). Ignores the basic fact that if prices go up, demand goes down.
Their assertion only holds true if purchasing behaviour didn't change at all, which would only be the case if foreign producers swallowed the tariffs so that the UK price of their goods didn't change. Anyone who's been in business for more than an hour will see the absurdity.
It's like they found a charred copy of the "Ladybird Book of Economics" in the smoking ruins of a fire, and learnt everything they know from the remains of p6, p9 and p22.

Theresa May writes to all Tory MPs, a bibbly babbly letter that pretends only one amendment was passed a couple of weeks ago (Brady) while ignoring the majority against a no-deal Brexit. Pick'n'mix Government... just bizarre.
She also includes the now usual no deal or no Brexit bit, presenting both as equally grave threats to the UK. Scary levels of delusion. History will judge her & her party very harshly indeed, if there's one iota of justice left in our blasted post-apocalyptic Brexit wasteland...
The TL/DR version: please let us all come together so that we can sacrifice the UK's future for the good of our party. You hold the country down, I'll get the bloodletting knife...

Here's a tldr THREAD
The story centres around a power couple in Brexit politics, Matthew and Sarah Elliott. Matthew was chief of Vote Leave and still has fingers in lots of Brexit pies. Sarah is chair of Republicans overseas, and used to work for fossil fuel magnates the Koch brothers.
In the US, the couple have strong ties to the #Kochtopus network and libertarian Trump-funder Robert Mercer. In the UK, they have strong ties to the remnants of the Leave campaign, and a network of groups lobbying for mass deregulation post-Brexit based out of #TuftonStreet

1. We are < 1% of global population (less without Scotland) To put things into perspective India produces more honours graduates than we produce kids.
2a. Without the economic muscle of the EU we do not have the means to get good trade agreements (Trade Agreements are staggeringly complex legal documents.
2b. Signing them is easy, getting a good one is the trick and that takes time, a team of knowledgeable and experienced negotiators and economic muscle, all which we don't have).

Here are some of the key findings from the report in slide form.
First an overview of the study itself:
Rich qualitative data (online survey & focus groups) gathered across the Central Border Region. Detailed examples & viewpoints heard from people on both sides of #border.

Respondents to the survey came from across the 8 local authority areas of the Central Border Region, moreorless equally from both sides of the border. 50/50 male/female. 80% 31-65 yrs.
There were far fewer Leave-voting respondents so they got extra attention in our analysis.
