The *entire* Lutyens media ecosystem has been out to create an impression that Kashmiri students are being attacked everywhere.

Turns out *not even one* Kashmiri student has been hurt so far. Many media and activist types have been caught spreading fake news about attacks etc.
On Pulwama:

Anti-Modi journalists want a commission of inquiry into how this lapse of intelligence happened.

But intel was there, it just couldn’t get very specific.

Given sheer no of convoys/potential targets suicide attacks are just so hard to prevent.
Pulwama: You can’t blame Modi for Pak deciding to up the ante.

They’ve been incredibly active on the LoC, reports suggest Paks didn’t vacate posts for winter even. Reports also suggest IA giving back as good as possible.
Those crying intel failure: you’re willing to credit govt for what they HAVE PREVENTED?

Nobody has forgotten our cities bombed by jihadies at regular intervals during IPA.

Can intel ops do better? ALWAYS.

Has intel ops been a disaster like it was under UPA? CERTAINLY NOT.
Pulwama: and then there’s the grand strategy argument.

but I want to see your grand strategy!

No grand, glamorous anti-Pak strategy/policy is possible given the size of our economy and how much action we’re willing to see in Kashmir/border etc
India can only spend so much on defence, we want to build super infra, pay farmers to not die etc

Given NPA, GST issues etc how much bandwidth must a Govt accord for pursuing an aggressive grand strategy for Pak?

Don’t see what great options Modi inherited. He’s done alrite.
There ARE issues in govt’s Pak policy but to claim it’s bumbling and clueless is just wrong.

Here’s a thread by the incredibly well informed @d_jaishankar
