I told you guys he was looking at pardoning Manafort, even preemptively. This is really an incredible piece of reporting, and should turn some serious heads on the Hill.
Influencing testimony is a felony.

And again: pardons *can* be used as the basis of an obstruction of justice case, if the pardon is designed to protect the President.
I must admit, I really like this story, partially because it confirms a ton of what I’ve been yelling about on Twitter for two years:

Ex: Trump ordered Mueller fired, but McGahn threatened to resign and Trump backed off. This was already reported, but it’s important.
Reminder: McGahn is cooperating with Mueller.

Also, it appears Rosenstein tricked Trump here, and...

This is 100% speculation, but I suspect Rosenstein did it again re: Deutsche Bank when Trump flipped about them reportedly looking into his finances.

I feel like people are freaking out just a little too much over this Mueller news.

Even if it’s true, and Barr expects a report as early as next week, this really doesn’t change anything. 1/X
I told you guys I expected a report by March/April. This is only a week or so early.

Rosenstein said he wouldn’t leave until he knew Mueller’s investigation was safe.

He announced plans to leave in March earlier this week. 2/X
I understand the first inclination is to think something shady is happening, because let’s face it, that’s what’s happened for most of this administration. But I don’t get the impression that’s what’s going on.

#Manafort charging document for today's guilty plea includes details of his planting disinformation in US press to smear political rivals of his pro-Russia clients in Ukraine. Eg "Plant some stink on Tymo"—painting a female rival as a criminal who paid for murder. Sound familiar?
Manafort had used the same propaganda smear tactics in Ukraine that Trump rolled out in his campaign for president in 2016. Manafort not only had Tymo soliciting murder. He pushed tribal divisions, using "Obama Jews" & anti-Semitism to tarnish her. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4883…
