I finally gave my email address on a Square purchase after opting out of receipts for years and within 24 hours a merchant that I'd visited once, *a week earlier*, emailed me asking for more personal info. That all feels incredibly gross, @Square
Every tech company juicing its numbers has willfully conflated providing information necessary for a transaction with consenting to the unlimited use of that information, and I hate it
Not only is that conflation bad for my inbox (whatever, I can manage), but it's actively bad for society! It's the same fundamental misunderstanding, in the form of the grossly distended "third-party doctrine" of the law, that's responsible for massive invasions of privacy

A decade ago, somebody uploaded a video that mashed up an iconic dance scene from THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985) with a current popular hit, Pheonix's Lisztomania
Shortly after that went viral, a group of Brooklyn let's-face-it hipsters did a shot for shot remake of the mash-up, which was pretty exciting at the time!

Good morning! I want to talk a little about the Apocalypse World Extended Refbook. There's this #rpgtheory topic I love, and the Contaminated playbook is an excellent example.
If you haven't yet, you can go grab the Extended Refbook sample file from the Kickstarter page. The Contaminated playbook is first up, pages 1-2.

The Contaminated represents a particular subgenre of the post-apocalypse that I don't care much about, but also one that is booming, what with that TV show and all. My faves in the subgenre are 28 Days Later, Stakeland, and Mulberry Street.

Planning the trip!
There's a really cute Airbnb in Clarksdale. I could fly home to read on 9/25, bring my mom to Memphis to meet up with my aunt, and then drive to Clarksdale to visit historical sites, cemeteries, and record interviews with relatives. Then it's back to Chicago for @20x2Chi on 10/6.
My auntie asked me ONE question about the book and I blabbed about a century of our history for about 30 minutes. It feels *so* good to know that my family cares.
