They’re not saying what Bernie has been saying, which is essentially, “It’s not about me. It’s about us. It’s about transforming this country.”
They’re saying, “It’s not about Bernie. It’s about you... electing Bernie.”
We can be generous here and give them credit for “... and what that means ...”
Still doesn’t change the fact that it has more to do with Bernie than “revolution” and where he sits inside of it.
There is a fine line between those two things.
We just said this the other day.
We have criticisms of Bernie and expectations that will determine how much we’re willing to engage with him, but it is well past time for the U.S. Left to begin *radically* refining and building on strategies outside of electoral politics.
Literally.
Anyone who continues to push narratives that place excessive focus on individuals (no matter how great and impactful) instead of systemic solutions is distracting you, whether they’re aware of it or not.
And we cannot afford to be distracted.
