This is, by distance, the most pertinent thing I'll write this week. It is a full break down of how an Article 50 extension works.
The good news: You can extend to July 1st pretty easily. The bad news: You can't extend past then unless you participate in the European parliamentary elections in May.
That's the deadzone, right there. So anyone who says they rule out no-deal, whether it's Labour leadership or moderate Tory ministers, must support UK participation. Or else we're bollocksed.

So desperately, abominably irresponsible and inept. MPs must give themselves power to extend Article 50 immediately.
And not for three months or any of that tepid horseshit. For a year, so they can start to figure out exactly what the fuck it is they're doing.
Three months accomplishes nothing. It doesn't give time for anything. It is defined by the expectations of the domestic debate, rather than a credible assessment of what we're trying to achieve.

Useful and authoritative on the desperate efforts by @TiceRichard to pretend there is a magical bit of WTO to save us from the folly he's promoted.
I would add one thing. Art 24 requires an agreement. The UK is incapable of sorting an agreement quickly because - all together now - it does not know what it wants. So no matter how fast the WTO is, this would not be a rapid procedure.
But anyway, as unlikely and cartoonish as @TiceRichard's story is: if he wants to tell us who these 'WTO bosses' he's been meeting are, I'm sure we're all ears.

Damn right. Fuck it, let's just go hog-wild and bring back fuedalism, tie people to the land. That's the only way we'll find true meaning.
'Undermine family life', sweet Jesus. Free movement gave us family reunion rights. It allowed people to care for their parents as they get older, rather than be separated by nosey-parker bureaucrats.
It's anti-immigrant policies, like the income benchmark on spousal visas or restrictions on family reunion, which separate couples and force children from their parents.

2) The BBC's Nick Robinson put out this blog in April 2017, explaining the duty of the national broadcaster. The referendum was over, Remain was no longer an option and there was therefore no requirement for the BBC to report on anything other than variations of #Brexit
3) This judgement, that Remain was dead, was certainly suspect 18 months ago. Today, with #PeoplesVote on everyone's lips and the Brexit plan in tatters it appears to be a remarkable failure from the BBC news team, who have failed in their duty to inform in a balanced fashion

Brexit seems to be the solution to all our economic woes (short thread)

E.g., Hannan thinks that Brexit will be great because house prices will crash by 1/3. That will be great for first-time buyers, right?
Problem is last time house prices crashed (2008) home ownership in younger people did not increase. It decreased by quite a bit as can be seen in this graph. 2/
That's because housing prices are connected to lots of other things in the economy, such as job prospects, lending criteria. It's not that people in 2008 were like "Hey look, all those houses around us have become cheaper. Now we can finally buy!" 3/

It's fair to say that there is only a small (though significant) movement towards "remain" & against #Brexit, leading some to say that a #PeoplesVote might lead to the same result
But let's look at where we are

2) the press is still largely pro #Brexit. The BBC has, in the name of balance, been at best hopeless in holding brexiters to account for previous statements and more importantly, both major parties are still pretending their Brexit will be OK
There's no major voice against it
3) and yet, despite the lack of any major voice exposing the reality of #Brexit, the message is still getting through about what a screw up Brexit really is.

There's consistent polls showing a majority who think Brexit is going badly, and a lack of faith in government handling

The #Brexit that is being implemented is not the one that was sold to the people. As it becomes even clearer that the Leave Campaign misled the electorate, the public must be granted a vote on the deal. Each day this week I will be outlining a broken promise from the gvt.
‘The UK will not be paying into the EU after March 2019.’ The Gvt. have conceded the UK will pay a divorce bill of around £40bn, with payments continuing until 2064 & the PM says the UK should make an ‘appropriate financial contribution’ for participation in EU agencies.
‘The UK will not have to abide by EU rules during transition’. The reality is that the UK will have to abide by all EU rules and regulations including those agreed by member states during transition.
