Atmosphere in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku Toru local government area of Rivers state remained tensed this morning following yesterday’s shoot out which left about seven people dead including a Lieutenant. The Election Day violence led to the rescheduling of polls in that LGA
INEC Adhoc staff who were trapped in Abonnema Rivers state yesterday were seen leaving the area today. Commercial vehicles have been allowed to resume skeletal operations but other business activities are yet to begin. 
Earlier; Army was seen providing security for people leaving the community. Patrol vans were made available to escort those leaving the community.
There is heavy security presence with helicopters hovering around Abonnema. Waterway patrol was also sighted. Initial reports said the Army took over the town this morning.
