Elections in Akuku-Toru and Bonny local government areas of #Riversstate have been rescheduled following the violence that rocked the two LGAs today.
As you may know, shootings began in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku Toru LGA of Rivers state since last night and continued this morning making it difficult for elections to hold in the area.
In Bonny LGA of Rivers state, rumours of fake election results started a fight amongst party agents which escalated to shootings and chaos that did not allow elections start in the area.
Online reports say the elections in the two LGAs of Rivers state were cancelled but INEC in the state clarified that elections can only be cancelled when the process has started and later disrupted. He said the case of Akuku-Toru and Bonny LGAs, the elections did not start at all
