An immigration twist on guns!

As Democrats bring universal background checks to the House floor, Republicans try to force a vote on requiring ICE to be notified when a person who's illegally in the US tries to buy a firearm.
220-209, House Republicans win a "motion to recommit" to amend the gun bill to ensure ICE knows when an undocumented immigrant tries to buy a gun.

Awkward defeat for Democratic leaders, who pushed for a NO vote; 26 Democrats voted YES anyway.
240-190, House passes the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 to require universal background checks for gun buyers.

Cohen hearing kicks off. Meadows throws sand in the gears early, motioning to postpone it due to lack of time to view the testimony. Chairman Cummings refuses. Jordan complains that CNN had the testimony earlier. Meadows demands a recorded vote on his motion.

And so it begins.

He says it’s a legitimate question.

“We are in search of the truth.”
“We will all have to make our evaluations of the evidence and Mr. Cohen’s credibility,” @RepCummings says, threatening to refer Cohen to DOJ if he lies to Congress again.

“He does have a lot to lose if he lies.”

1/6 Wait times for elective surgery in the US are shorter for *everyone* (in 16 developed countries) -- not just seniors. Can’t use the chart as proof that socialized medicine (ie, what some believe Medicare is) works. Note that Medicare is, in fact, not socialized healthcare.
2/6 And we are in the top 3 for lowest wait times to see a specialist. Again, for all age groups, not just seniors.
