Capitalism—like communism—is clearly defined and clearly condemned by the Church. #thread

In St John Paul II’s Centesimus Annus:
St JPII’s Laborum Exercens:
Pope Benedict XVI’s Deus Caritas Est and Caritas in Veritate:
Pope Francis’ Laudato Si:
By no means are these quotations exhaustive.

They are in perfect harmony with the social encyclicals of the Papacy, beginning with Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, and the historical tradition of the Holy Church.
Usury, defrauding workers, and “unbridled capitalism” were fiercely condemned in earlier times. But it has been realized and taught by the Church that these are not merely “capitalism gone wrong.” Sins which cry out to Heaven are at the heart of “capitalism gone right”!
Just as in liberalism, capitalism has an internal “ironclad logic.”

Blind attempts to colonize it with virtuous men will only end in failure, corruption, and perpetuated injustice.
The Church’s key principles in the way forward are Solidarity and Subsidairity which—along with integralism (the temporal order must be subordinate to the spiritual order)—are at the heart of Catholic Social Teaching

Our politics must begin with fidelity to the Magisterium of Mother Church and solidarity with the poor, oppressed, and lowly.
Praise be Jesus Christ,
