It strikes me how outraged many are at the comparative injustice of this sentence to the crime(s) to the out of scale sentences of other, far less impactful crimes.
Maybe the lesson to be got, besides the obvious very Not-Blind-Justice system, is that those other penalties have
gotten extremely out of bounds & out of sync with the underlying matter.

I wonder how often, if ever, those setting the sentencing standards ask "What is a jail sentence for? What is the purpose & intent?" and act accordingly.
I don't think we know. As a society we only know
we want "them gone". Especially if they are black, or some other unconscious provoking "other". It is complicated bec there is precious little distinction being made in the "Justice" system. We seem to be governed by extremes, of which there are examples, not by consideration.
I remember reading @AI_Solzhenitsyn 's Gulag Archipeligo many years ago and being struck by the draconian "25er"...25 years in prison, so easily handed out. And struck again later to find our own penal system was beginning to impose them.
Lets learn the right lesson from these various tragedies and travesties.

And then act on what we have learned.

An unjust justice system is a leading indicator of a failing society.
A passing thought: In the constitution, the Judicial system is given the least amount of power, directly, and yet is chartered with the most important of missions: to render justice justly.

Its seems almost Tao. Like how water is stronger than the stone.

If it remains true.
