What makes this infuriating is that America is currently more pro-immigrant than it's almost ever been. Frum is exploiting the media's incredibly inaccurate perception that the country is dominated by Trumpist sentiment to push Know-Nothingism.
You know what would make an interesting cover piece? How the rising popularity of immigration eliminates a destructive political fault line and makes it possible for America to vindicate its ideals as a bastion of prosperity and opportunity for people the world over
But why would anyone write that when you can write "WHY THE POPULISTS ARE RIGHT" for the 7000th time
Also, lol @ Frum citing polls in Europe but strangely omitting polls in America, which is the subject of his piece AND has dramatically more immigration. Wonder why that is?? OH RIGHT, BECAUSE THEY SHOW WE HAVE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ATTITUDES ABOUT IMMIGRATION THAN EUROPEANS 
Also, this! Did you know the best-performing European political party is probably the virulently PRO-immigrant German Greens? Probably not, because no one talks about it, because it doesn't fit ~*The Narrative*~
The main difference between Very Serious Thinkers and Steve Bannon is that one thinks white reactionaries dominate all politics, while the other one thinks white reactionaries dominate all politics, and that's good.
Here's some real radicalism. Politics are driven by values more than self-interest. Xenophobia is proof: immigration benefits many people who hate it anyway. Tolerance, protecting others, inclusion - those are values too, and deeply appealing ones. Build politics on them instead.
