unpopular opinion: mumbai edition
it's appalling that Mumbaikars have reached such a comatose state of apathy that we will almost certainly forget about the #MumbaiBridgeCollapsed by the end of the weekend.
also if the bmc spent less money making fuckall 'I <3 generic suburb* installations and more money on our crumbling infrastructure, these shameful tragedies could be avoided.
and it's even more shameful because we are inherently made chutityas out of every year with some feel-good story about spirit of Mumbai when the truth is that Mumbaikars pay real estate prices and taxes reminiscent of Manhattan for infrastructure that's comparable to rural Ghana.
if you're a millennial Mumbaikar, you are only still living here because you have too many memories from your formative years that have lead you to romaticize traffic, crowded spaces and just-about-okay woman safety for 'spirit'. Either that or
Or are too broke or lazy to move to a different city. Anyone who has spent a single /day in an *ACTUAL CITY* knows Mumbai is unnecessary struggle and tragedy 24/7 with the odd Marine Drive selfie or Bollywood star sighting. But is that worth having your life reduced to fkn 5lacs?
5 fucking lacs to the next of kin of the 6 deceased, many of whom, I'm sure were sole breadwinners of their family. Lots of fresher log ka starting annual package is more than 5L. But our beloved @Dev_Fadnavis thinks 30L will totes fix six families ka lifetime financial distress.
