I used to drink a lot of diet soda (coke zero), but I stopped entirely. My notes:
• I don't burp
• Ice water is nice
• My "diet taste detectors" fully restored after 2 weeks (how does that work?), now diet sodas taste like diet garbage and regular sodas are wayyyyy too sugary
• I feel extremely… boring? I only drink alcohol at special fun times, I don't drink any coffee, I'm just… boring water man
• A learned a lot of fast food/snack foods I enjoyed I only really enjoyed for the accompanying diet soda. I looked at the chips aisle and went "ugh" 😫
• The trick for me: after I jogged I would often have heartburn and one day my brain screamed "it's cause your stomach is filled with carbonation sloshing around" (gross) and the second the formula "diet soda = heartburn" entered my brain I just never drank it again. So weird!!

Long ago, there was an Xbox Live Support Forum for suspended accounts, and incredibly, employees would reply and explain the bans. It was so good, I would read it every day — mostly for the schadenfreude of idiot kids playing dumb and getting called out.
Well I just found a long-lost folder of screenshots I took from this forum, so here are a handful of example posts.

I almost just got scammed hard: a cautionary tale. So, I got a call from the 1-800 number on the back of my ATM Card: Wells Fargo. I answered, and a Fraud Department agent said my ATM card had just been used at a Target in Minnesota, was I on vacation? Ugh.
So the card-replacement dance began. “Is the card in your possession?” It was. The agent asked for the CVV code to verify i had it. After verifying, he offered to expedite a replacement. First he had to read some disclosures. Then he asked me to key in a new PIN.
I picked a random PIN and entered it. Verified it again. Then he asked me to key in my current PIN.

I paused.

“Don’t you… know my PIN?”
“It’s just to confirm the change. I can’t see what you enter.”
“But… you’re the bank. You have my PIN, and you CAN see what I enter…”

A story. When I was 13 years old (pictured), my family planned a road trip to Seattle. And all I wanted to do, more than anything else in the universe, was visit Nintendo in nearby Redmond. A photo of Cabel when he was 13 years old wearing a SUPER cool
Nintendo was everything to me as a kid. Their games changed the way I looked at the world — they’re why I open every door and press every button and spot every detail. I couldn’t eat without having a Nintendo magazine to read while eating. And…… heck yes I was a Fun Club member The The contents of the envelope, including a Super Mario Bros. sticker, issue 2 of the newsletter, etc.
I also called Nintendo Customer Service… a lot. (1-800-422-2602. Still memorized, and still works.) So before our trip, I called them up to make sure they gave tours. "Uh, I'm sure someone can show you around!" the guy said. Awesome!

Now that I'm in a place in my life where I would describe myself as 'anxious and bummed out' more often than 'panicked and detached,' I thought it might be interesting to reflect on my complete breakdown in May of 2015:
In the 9 months or so leading up to my crisis, I had stopped taking my anxiety medication. The prescription had run out and I simply stopped taking it. As a side effect, my appetite decreased and it became easier to manage my weight, which seemed positive overall.
But in the lead up to the New Year, I was becoming deeply depressed. My appetite vanished entirely and I began to skip meals. I would lose 40 lbs by May. I started to cry a lot. I cried a _lot_. I could make an evening of it and I didn't want to feel better, I just wanted to cry.

I've never been nearly as afraid to publish something *detailed & specific* about my trauma as I am to publish something *vague* about the spiritual beliefs that helped me heal from it, and I wonder whether some of the representation problems in Native lit are situated here--
I can write over and over about trauma and about how I used to drink a lot--it's actually easy for me to share, and it feels safe, in a way. It's my own pain and my responsibility is mostly to myself in deciding what to share.
There have obviously been disagreements on here recently about what we can share about culture & especially spirituality. For those of us who haven't been taught that *nothing* can be shared, can we write broadly (without describing practices or sites) about spirituality?

I am proud to announce that I have been certified "dangerous and unprofessional" by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and I'm pleased to say that the feeling is mutual.
To be clear: the U.S. government believes it was "dangerous and unprofessional" of me to tell the story of a single mother arbitrarily detained by #ICE with no thought for her 8-year-old son, and to request support for her from my fellow citizens.

I have a problem with this.
ADDENDUM: Author requested that #ICE contact local @AILANational chapter to "share these concerns." ICE AILA liaison called later that week to inform me that #ICE believed that I was "endangering officer safety"...

...by advocating for public to call #ICE to support a client.
