People exercising personal moral judgment about the societal value of a TV host calling Iraqis “illiterate monkeys” and defending statutory rape IS the speech police.

Using a national newspaper to frame them as Orwellian aparatchiks engaged in smears is NOT the speech police.
1st Amendment is clear: If you are Tucker Carlson, you can say whatever you want about sex with real teenaged girls w/o endangering your right to be on national TV—that’s free speech.

Criticizing Tucker Carlson for defending child rape is NOT free speech. That’s what STALIN did.
Free speech is presumed to apply powerful privileged people no matter what they say, but not to apply to any reaction people might have to such speech.

It’s such an obvious ruse and they keep running it, because it works.

It works because so many agree with that assumption.
