One other thing that’s been bugging me since this tweet surfaced: This is a fake map. It’s been intentionally blurred and distorted to expand the red areas and eliminate some blue islands.
AHA! Here's the real version and the blurred/republicanized version of the map, courtesy of @JohnWWheelerIII. 
What leaps out here is that you don't need to photoshop a map like this to erase millions of Democrats—you just need to make it so blurry that all the cities in the heartland disappear.
"You liberals don't care about the people of the flyover states! Not like me, who just evaporated every Democrat between Dallas and Chicago!"
And it's not just the great plains. Look at Blurry New York. Where's Buffalo? Jamestown? Batavia? Ithaca? Delhi? Cobleskill? Saranac Lake? If you erase every Democrat in NY outside of NYC, Hudson Valley, and the Southern Tier, of COURSE you're going to have a distorted view.
(I should acknowledge that in addition to NYC metro, HV, and the ST, there is a fourth big blue dot centered on North Elba, home of John Brown. Rock on, Adirondacks.)
Here's a fun fact based on math I just did: If you dump every vote cast in NYC into the Hudson River, Hillary still beats Trump in New York State. By more than sixty thousand votes.
