As always, the terms "press conference" and "about to start" can only be used in conjunction aspirationally.
I heard someone on the feed say "two minutes, two minutes" right before I tweeted. That was twenty minutes ago.
Smollett's attorney was very careful about what questions she would and wouldn't answer. Smollett made a statement, but didn't take any questions.
Smollett said he'd been truthful throughout. His attorney reiterated that he was attacked by the two brothers. Referred questions about whether they'd be prosecuted to CPD and the DA.
A thing about stories like this, from someone who's been close to more than one of them: It's not unusual at all for there never to be any clear, public narrative closure.
And now this. Jussie Smollett is saying he was vindicated, the CPD is saying he was guilty, and the DA isn't saying anything at all.
