Ahead of the elections, a brief thread on each of the political parties' position with regards to historical memory debates👇#28A #MemoriaHistórica
First up, the Socialist Party (PSOE) have promised that they will not take 'even one step backwards’ on historical memory and will continue to 'dignify' victims. Prior to the election, PM Sánchez set a date for the exhumation of Franco’s remains.

The most outspoken party, Vox, have branded memory activists ‘bone-finders’, which has been taken as an insult. Vox has previously called for 2007's Historical Memory law to be scrapped entirely.

The new leader of the Partido Popular, Pablo Casado, has changed tack and has proposed replacing 2007's Historical Memory Law with a new 'Law of Harmony'. This law was previously mooted in the regional elections in Andalucía.

Representatives of Ciudadanos have been more reluctant to speak about historical memory, referring to the need to move on from the past. Here, Albert Rivera says he wants to talk about their new policy proposal rather than 'the bones of Franco'.

Prudencia nació en un pueblecito llamado Sant Celoni, en la provincia de Barcelona, el día 5 de agosto de 1884, a las siete y media de la mañana. Nació en su casa, como era costumbre, en la calle de la Estación, hoy calle Esteve Magas, esquina con calle San Martín.
Su infancia transcurrió en su pueblo natal, junto a su hermana María, cuatro años mayor. Fueron compañeras de juegos y escuela, y más adelante lo fueron como catequistas en Barcelona. María ingresó como religiosa en el Císter.

El Cuartel de la Montaña era una edificación militar que se encontraba en Madrid, en la montaña del Príncipe Pío, cerca de la calle Ferraz. Albergaba tres destacamentos: zapadores, infantería y brigada de alumbrado. Unos 2.000 hombres.
Estamos en julio de 1936. Sábado, día 18.
El barullo en Gobernación es continuo. Se producen comunicaciones con todos los cuarteles y aeródromos de España para confirmar la lealtad a la República. En África se ha levantado el ejército, y todo indica que se producirá un efecto dominó en la península.

OK, some context on #Spain: last week, a court found that the ruling #PP had been using irregular funds for years. The Socialist party (#PSOE) launched a motion of non confidence, which is being discussed today in Parliament (opens thread)
Initially,nobody in #Europe cared much:after all, this was to be the second time #Rajoy was questioned by the Parliament (last year, on an initiative by #Podemos) and Socialist leader #Sanchez (who is not an MP, as he lost his seat last year) did not seem to have too much support
Mainly because he needs 176 votes, which he can only get if MOST regional parties (including heavily pro-indy forces in #Catalonia and #basquecountry) support him, as #Ciudadanos has said they would not support the motion, because they want new elections.
