A lot of what is mistaken for race-based discrimination has a lot more to do with age and gender. When I was a teenager, I was watched like a hawk when I walked through the aisles of a store and frequently pulled over for dumb reasons. I had my car searched more than once.
I went into a CVS once when I was 16 or 17 and I heard the guy at the front say to the other guy, "Watch the one in the hat." I was pulled out of my car for a DUI check even though I wasn't drunk and had exhibited no signs of inebriation. On and on.
Some local establishments had rules that no one under the age of 18 was allowed to enter after a certain time unless accompanied by an adult. Some places prohibited groups of under 18s. This is because young males have earned a reputation, and it has nothing to do with their race
And I should mention that it's a deserved reputation. Young males tend to do dumb and illegal things. Anyone who has experience being a young male knows this.
