I sincerely do hate how anything a person says about a candidate—positive or negative—gets filtered through the lens of presumed partisanship.
I genuinely like Joe Biden. His politics aren't mine, and I've never thought he was the right fit for this historical moment, but I think he was a good vice president and a good surrogate for Obama on the trail.
I'm never going to see a Democratic candidate for president whose politics are mine, but as a campaigner and as a public speaker, I found stuff to like in Joe Biden.
This shit, though? This shit we're all talking about today? It's fucked up. And if the only way you have to process it is whether you like Joe Biden or want him to be president, well, that's why he's been getting away with it for so long.

"After virality" is a growing genre of news story, and I think it's a really useful one. We all move on, but the stories don't end.
("How the internet ruined this person's life by yelling at them for twelve hours" is a distinct genre from the one I'm talking about. Those are sometimes useful, often not.)

I am really uncomfortable with the Biden camp dragging Chris Coons’ kid into their defense narrative.
She was a child when it happened. She’s still a child. She hasn’t spoken about it. Leave her alone.
At dinner tonight I suggested that it might have been okay if Coons had said, “My daughter asked me to say...”

My sixteen-year-old daughter immediately gave me nine (nine!) reasons why it wouldn’t have been.

Okay, for a moment I'd like to leave the realm of dreary, "I'll take what I can get" corporate handling of harassers and talk about what corporate accountability would actually look like.
Because there's a lot of "they can't do the right thing because they might get sued" -- I've been saying it a ton -- but I want to take a step back for a moment and say yes, doing the right thing might get a company sued, and that's not actually a reason not to do it.
Genuine apologies from public figures and companies are extraordinarily rare, because genuine apologies include admission of wrongdoing, and acknowledgment of harm, and admitting those things could make you legally liable for them.

1/ It is often said that failure is the key to success. However, it is not failure that helps people forward. It is their ability to learn and recover from it.
2/ A mistake is defined as an action or judgment that is misguided or wrong. The definition of failure is a lack of success, and success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
3/ So saying failure leads to success is saying there is a causality between a lack of success and… more success? This is a paradox.
